Normalling Out

July 11, 2013. 11:11pm.

Make a wish. I did.

So I got off work BEFORE 10pm today. Unreal, right? Weird. Tomorrow if I get off so early again maybe I'll offer to help clean up in the kitchen. Lol. Yeah, you heard that right - I'm considering voluntarily staying late into the night to help clean up a kitchen. What can I say, I like the staff!

So this might be the point where you're gonna stop wanting to read my blog anymore actually...because things just felt...normal! Now don't get the idea that I'm saying that in a bad way - I'm just saying it might be uninteresting for the reader of my life...for me...it feels awesome. For now anyway - maybe it's just the novelty of it feeling ordinary...teeheehee I'm just made that up just now and am pretty proud of that one ;) What is that called? Those kinds of things Yogi Berra says like "It gets late early this time of year" and "Nobody ever goes there it's always too crowded"? Dad, help me out here please! Anyway, I think that counts as one! "The novelty of it feeling ordinary"? Nice. But it's true, it was a fun, enjoyable, calm (there were not many clients today - I think 17 in total, so fewer desserts than that - thought we also of course prepared ingredients, parts, etc, for dessert parts for later on) - yet it's starting to feel...routine!

During the evening shift I wasn't asked to do any chores for cuisine. Jean-Ba came in and sous-vided a bunch of fish himself - but didn't ask me to help. I think he might have if Tibo hadn't told him off taking me away when I am his assistant, but Tibodid tell him off, so...instead I made merengue sticks! Before squeezing it out of the back into long strips (which by the way does take skill and has to be done right..), I just had to mix the powdered sugar into the beaten egg whites. 'Cool, I got this, no prob', were my thoughts....until....my arm starting burning enough that I was delighted that Tibo looked over and said it was done, and not to overdo it. But wow, it was actually...not easy hahaha. It was really thick, there was a lot of it, and...well it just actually required a surprising amount of strength. Lol.

So like a said...kind of unexciting blog post right? OH wait for dinner I was initially kind of anti-excited to see what I first though were hot dogs...until I ate them and discovered they were Merguez and Saucisse. The Merguez was from horse meat they said! Which is cool! And it was really yummy, but not as good as the Saucisse :) Which was just some combination of different kinds of meat apparently, but it was just delicious.

ANYWAY, again, not super thrilling blog post, but thrilling day for me in the sense that it was just...so nice!

  1. I love coming home and reading your posts.

I had a very good day today - found out that hearing aid technology has advanced a great deal and I should be able to hear much better in about two weeks - yay!

I've found a really powerful new champion of my work. He's a newly retired CEO and seems to know everyone in the Valley. He was very well-loved at his company and he seems to be taking my work up as a cause. He keeps saying things like "we need to get such and such done..." in taking about my work. I'm feeling very lucky.
