Work Schedule, Long Hours

July 6, 2013. 1:45am.

Well I now understand all the hoorah about the hard life of a Chef. Work is exhausting! I don't know exactly what it is...but really what's so hard is just the hours I think. (Well, and the language for me.) I. Am. Exhausted. And it's 1:30 right now! I thought about not writing today and almost didn't but I had to put my chef jacket in the washing machine anyway (it was pretty gross) and I had to be awake to take it out to dry (it'll still be damp but better than fully wet!). Today we didn't end until past 11:30. Yeah. Clean-up went late. And tomorrow we start serving a new menu for this season, so they were busy with new preparation things. (Yeah, each season they change the menu, and tomorrow the new season starts!!!! Exciting!)

Here's my daily schedule:

8:00: Wake up

8:50am: Start work (day shift)

11:00am: Eat lunch and take a 15-minute break (with all the personnel - I drink coffee while they smoke cigarettes)

3:15pm: Finish day shift

3:30pm: Do what I want

§  take a nap (today I took a nap on a nearby field - or tried to...I was SO dead and exhausted but couldn't really fall asleep at all...I should've gone back home probably)

§  go to Vernon, explore, etc (like yesterday)

§  blog, email, use internet, etc, at a café (there's also internet I can use at the restaurant but I don't stay there for long periods of time during breaks)

§  learn French (look up phrases/words I wanted to say during the day but didn't know, use Duolingo)

5:50pm: Start work (evening shift)

10:30pm-11:30pm: Finish night shift, end work for the day.

11:30: Blog, get ready for bed, sometimes do laundry, etc.

1:00am-2:00am: Go to sleep.

Jeezus. That's pretty bad!!! Like seriously...holy shit!!!!

No wonder I'm so exhausted. But I have this weird thing where I don't really feel like I can fall asleep well. So I watch an episode of Modern Family and then am ready for bed. But I'm going to run out of Modern Family episodes really soon =(

Ahhhh....!!!

Anyway it's really late so I'm going to go get and hang up my chef jacket, then go to bed. Another day of work tomorrow! I can't wait :) For real.
